Day 4

April 25, 2014

By Mallory Ross

Today was wonderful. I enjoy riding by myself but I was ready for some company. Rev. Michael Bartley and Jesse Cruce joined me on the ride from Wellington, KS to Wakita, OK and their energy and adventurous spirits were exactly what I was in need of. The highlight of the day, besides eating at Wakita’s famous Foodland, was doing 13 miles on gravel with crazy wind gusts. Wakita is where “Twister,” the movie was filmed and I now understand why.

I was fortunate enough to stay with a wonderful woman in Wakita, and I attended the Wakita Education Foundation banquet with her. I was instantly inspired by this group of people and their commitment to their community.

I hope this finds you all well, and I appreciate all of the prayers and words of encouragement I have received.

Things I learned from Day 4:

Oklahoma is by far the windiest state with the windiest cities! Come at us Chicago, I bet we could take you.

You never know from where inspiration might come.

Jesse Cruce singing on a bicycle is wonderful motivation even when you are angry at Michael for leading us down difficult roads.
