Who We Are

Welcome to the Wesley Foundation at Oklahoma State University!  It seems so benign to simply use the word ‘welcome‘ to greet someone into your home.  However, welcome is possibly one of the most profound words in the English language.

Welcome points to the infinitely important invitation to be comfortable, be at ease, be yourself. To be welcome is to be home.  At the heart of the mission of The Wesley is an understanding that students from all walks of life are invited to be at home.

As a traditionally United Methodist campus ministry, we believe that all are welcome to the table. Our community includes undergraduate and graduate students, as well as their spouses and children. Some grew up in the United Methodist Church (some are even PK’s), while others are Southern Baptist, Catholic… nonreligious or spiritual, devout practicioners of other faiths, you fill-in-the-blank.

We know from many years of experience in campus ministry that those who truly embrace a radical welcome will never be the same.  Hearts will be softened, minds will be expanded, hands will be dirtied, feet will be directed and life will be transformed. We call this transformation discipleship, and we welcome you into a journey with us.

Though much of our world is bent on death, destruction and judgment, we affirm that God in Christ staked his reputation on life and challenges us to live in light of that choice. Thus, our life together is wrapped up in the statement, “God chooses life!

As Jesus says to his followers, “I have come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly” (John 10:10). We invite you into this shared calling to life abundant.

On this site, you will find many opportunities to engage more deeply in our five pillars of ministry: Hospitality, Worship, Leadership Development, Healing & Wholeness, and Shared Community for the fulfillment of our mission: Making Disciples, Creating Leaders, Transforming Lives.
